Project WeldGalaxy launched an open call on 16 March 2020 to find pilot projects to become part of an exclusive 6 month WeldGalaxy Support Programme. This open call went out to European SMEs and MidCaps to offer technical support, business mentoring, media exposure and funding.
The open call closed on 29 May 2020, with 10 proposals being chosen from a total of 34 that were submitted. Each of these ten proposals will receive funding of 100,000 Euros each.
The successful proposals covered a range of topics including robotic welding automation, wire arc additive manufacturing, an intelligent welding holding tool, a camera for arc welding applications, weld monitoring and an automatic defect recognition system for weld seams on X-ray images.
The winning proposals came from lead companies SARKKIS Robotics, REBARTEK AS, MX3D B.V., Flex Hex IVS, Cavitar Oy, Alexander Binzel Schweisstechnik GmbH & Co. KG, sentin GmbH, XARION Laser Acoustics GmbH, NEW INFRARED TECHNOLOGIES, S.L. and Nissatech.
TWI experts in arc welding, robotics, sensors and additive manufacture will be assisting these companies to develop their innovations and Fundingbox will provide business support.
The WeldGalaxy team look forward to assisting with all of the projects and a kick-off event is now planned for 5 October.
The second call for further projects to be supported by WeldGalaxy will be launched next Spring.
