a mix of partners with complimentary expertise

WeldGalaxy consortium has a mix of partners with complimentary expertise: welding technology, engineering knowledge analytics and modelling, web platform and databases, DLT and open call management.

Established in Cambridge, UK in 1946 and with several facilities across the globe, TWI ( is one of Europe’s foremost independent research and technology organisations, employing 740 scientists, technologists, administrative and support staff world-wide (523 in the UK and Europe) and with annual (2017) group turnover of £60 million. TWI works across all industry sectors with expertise in key aspects of materials, materials joining, structural integrity, static and dynamic testing and Non Destructive Testing (NDT) and Non Destructive Evaluation (NDE) and has representation on over 100 standards committees.

FBA is the European Leader in managing financial support to third parties. They will manage the open innovation competitions and provide business mentorship to each beneficiary.

LUT have expertise in the field of simulation and modelling of manufacturing processes. They will modify their computational welding tools to fit within the project.

DKM (Dynamic Knowledge Management) is EKON’s flagship software product for knowledge construction and operation efficiency. EKON will enhance the DKM as a B2B platform for the welding industry, facilitating the development of WeldGalaxy platform.

RMS has extensive experience in the design and implementation of scalable IT systems. They will develop the Distributed Ledger component, governance tools and methods required to conceal and restrict the exposure of private data manipulated by smart contracts.

FPS has experience in developing high-performing algorithms and software for multi-physics FEM simulations. They will modify and implement FEM software, develop welding templates and models for computational welding mechanics.

TVS has deveoped Knowledge Based Engineering (KBE) method for design automation for reducing the amount of time spent on various phases of design lifecycle. They will develop the Weldgalaxy KBE tool, perform LCA and parametric cost models.

AEONX provides end-to-end chatbot solutions. They will development the chatbot for WeldGalaxy platform.

Lead DLT architecture development, business planning and sustainability.

ULEIC has a strong background in materials research, welding mechanics, modelling and simulation. They will be involved in identification of user needs and challenges, functional requirements and design specification of the platform, data curation and development of WeldGalaxyDataBase.

Life Supporting Technologies (LifeSTech) is a research, development and innovation group, belonging to the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and dedicated to design, development and evaluation of services and applications based on ICT. They will work towards WeldGalaxy Data Base (WGDB) development, population and data modelling.
